My favorite part about the new Daima episode is Shenron basically going:
“Fuck you mean 3 wishes? I don’t even know you. You get 1”

Daima EP.5 (Spoiler) Review/theories
• While Panzy's eye color means nothing in regards to her lineage, she does come from an important lineage as some of us suspected. Panzy, princess of machine otakus. Glorio not immediately recognizing her by name or appearance likely implies either 3rd world demons aren't interested in the royal family in general or Panzy's very existence is somewhat restricted to those who live/work at her castle. Could it be that she never actually received a collar as a result of that? Is that why she wears the scarf?
• Glorio very clearly doesn't want anyone outside of Goku's circle to join in regardless of any help they can offer. (Not part of Dr Arinsu's plan?) No choice now. Panzy's a helpful mechanic.
• Glorio did in fact speak to King Kadan, who did not in fact request that Glorio seek out those who defeated Majin Buu; implying that Glorio "snuck" into King Gohma's castle & gathered intel on Goku & crew in episode 1 before being "sent out" by King Kadan. Even a 3rd world demon who does "work" in the 1st world shouldn't be able to get anywhere near the castle of THE SUPREME KING of the DEMON REALM. He was let in. Dr Arinsu popped up unannounced in episode 1 & Glorio just happened to be spying behind a pillar? Nah.
• The 3rd demon world being the biggest, (yet worst off) world in the entire realm might just maybe imply worlds 1&2 have slightly lower gravity, but probably not.
• King Kadan is a man of seemingly righteous anger (Glorio describes him as an uncivilized Mafia boss) who wants to get rid of King Gohma & somehow assume the throne of Supreme King. For "peace". Is that actually possible? Was he perhaps promised that position by a manipulator in the shadows? (Dr Arinsu?) Panzy said her father "only steals from criminals & only kills bad people", which is usually a set up for a heartbreaking reveal that'll leave Panzy in tears. Or it could be nothing.
• Apparently those awful collars even function as tracking devices.
• They even have onigiri in the Demon Realm. Cute. Implies demon rice fields & unique demon ocean seaweed.
• Panzy has a knife she hasn't used yet. Judging from all that courtyard soldier training going on at her castle, she probably picked up a few moves from watching & learning.
• It was nice hearing Goku introduce himself with both his names. His interactions with Panzy are cute so far, as I'd hoped. Panzy herself is charmingly stubborn, insisting on getting her way without throwing tantrums/ throwing a fit.
• In the 3rd world at least, the inhabitants live up to a thousand years. This likely doesn't apply to the Glinds who live for a VERY long time.
• Every Majin (demon) can use at least one magic spell. So could magical enhancement explain Glorio's strength?
• Goku can canonically touch his nose with his tongue.
• Panzy implied that there are next to no Glinds in the Demon Realm due to the vast majority leaving ages ago, as many of us suspected. Though based on the passive aggressive conversation Shin had with Glorio episode 3, there might be a handful of Glinds somewhere in 2nd world.
• So the stick with blue cloth tied to it from the OP isn't a grave marker, but a path marker. Based on the sound of the wind (in the scene in this episode) & the direction the cloth was blowing, you're supposed to take the path the cloth points to. (In the OP the cloth is blowing to the right, then the camera pans to the right, where Goku & crew are seen traveling)
• Panzy confirms that Dabura was still a bad guy prior to the events of the Buu saga, so thankfully he hasn't been retconed as a good guy King. (Wouldn't make sense)
• Dende's caretaker (nanny?) is cute. Hope she gets a name. Much smarter of King Gohma planing on raising Dende so he can have his own personal set of dragon balls & probably get rid of Neva. (So it was probably Degesu's idea)
• I want to know what those demon onions have seen...
• The Tamagamis have never been defeated. Their poor win streak's about to be demolished.
• Smart of Shin (Supreme Kai) to bring up the pin number issue with King Kadan, who introduced us to a demon (of currently unspecified gender) named "Hybis" (Hibiscus flower?) who loves ballet & will head out to pick up/help Vegeta & crew. Hybis also shows off a device that's visually similar to the dragon radar, but also Babidi's energy reading device we saw Spopovich using when Gohan went SSJ2 at the tournament in the Buu saga. Just cooler. (Panzy is also seen holding a similar device in the ED) I swear, if the eyeball on Hybis' belt turns out to be the Tertian Oculus...
• Shin straight up drops "universe 7" in front of Goku, who doesn't register it & that's hilarious. Shin also finally shared his suspicions of Glorio with Goku, bringing up things we've been bringing up & such. Goku was Goku about it.
• I wasn't ready for the children's book art style bit when King Kadan ordered 3 men to steal a plane for Hybis from the "Nemophy Gang".
• Man, someone must've put a plane curse on Glorio, cuz bro has ZERO luck in that department. A 4 day trip & it breaks down in 2 minutes. (Guess Kai-Kai isn't an option)
• Hope we return to Kadan castle from time to time to introduce us to a few of those background characters like cool, pretty, buff red head with the silly ah chest plate.
• Wonder if Glorio actually has any of that liquor King Kadan offered to provide.
• Cute detail of Goku carrying luggage with his nyoibo.
• I super hope that axolotl tailed stuffed animal Panzy brought along will actually be sold IRL. I want.

Just Finished Daima Ep 1
Very interesting. Daima is still technically set DURING Super, but not at the point we all thought. Seems the trailers used designs specifically not in the final product, hence the confusion. But it's actually set in the years-long gap between Episodes 2 (set shortly after Buu's defeat) and 3 of Super. Trunks is turning 9, so this is about two years (or less) post-Buu. The Namekian Neva, though... now HE'S one of the more interesting additions to the series for me. Very interested to learn more about him and why he seems to have abilities no other Namekian has. This first episode alone has me super intrigued, so many lore implications here. (Edited to correct the episode number placement)

daima ep 2 - stuff I noticed, relating to this episode or not
(find me on bluesky for more, I think I might be leaving twittxr soon)
~~~
Three Demon Worlds
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Demon Realm's 3 sectors were teased in some of the initial posters, before we knew there were 3 different distinct areas and 3 Dragonballs/3 Tmagami to go with them. I assume the Tamagami will be in each area above as pictured in the opening. (Water area?! Let's goooo)
~~~
A Devilish Symbol
Tumblr media
Another early tease was the symbol used on these soldiers' armour. Clearly the logo has horns that resemble Gomah, but also we can see the coveted Evil Third Eye in the logo?! Toriyama is a genius. The horns could also resemble Dabura, or maybe any other Demon King? Maybe the main Demon realm as a whole?
~~~
Our New Daima Dragon
Tumblr media
Initially, I saw this random shot in the opening, and I thought "oh no, please don't let this guy be the new dragon." Dragon, you may ask? Well, yeah. Glowing red eyes, purple and yellow theme to match the Daima logo, unseen lower half, and horns that aren't too different from the Porunga we know. (Degesu said he knew of Porunga, but didn't seem to know about the U7 Planet Namek and their DB set, so I assume their OG Demon Realm Dragonball set will also be named Porunga. Super Porunga, maybe, to differentiate. Speaking of that, you can hear Neva uttering a Namekian summoning phrase at the beginning of one of the final trailers. Dorusie is the name, going by other Namekian summoning passwords, maybe? Dorushie?) Plus there's the whole thing of Toriyama occasionally reusing designs, and there's a similar bull design he used in Blue Dragon, where the Shadows stretch out from their wielders like dragon gods do in DB. Howeverrrr--
Tumblr media
What if all the feathers in the opening/ending aren't only a tribute to Toriyama? (That's self explanatory, right? Not to mention the opening lyrics sneaking in his name.) I'm not gonna deny that the feathers are related to Toriyama.
What if the feathers are alluding to a feathered dragon? All the opening's shots with feathers show Goku as an adult, and while the ending's feather bits definitely feel more like a Toriyama homage with the sentimental lyrics, there is a clear shape at the very end... Maybe not just a bird.
Anime I've Seen in 2024 (New and Old)
New
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training arc - 5/10: Too short and over too quickly, really wished they could’ve added more.
My Hero Academia season 7 - 6/10: Tiring at this point, I actually don't care anymore.
Date a Live V - 7/10: It didn't shocked me like everyone else, I've seen heavier shit then this. Still, it's an appropriate finale. I've heard there's like two light novels left in the series. Maybe one day for season 6.
Sand Land - 7/10: The main story is fantastic and a great stand alone series. The second arc is okay. It's good but completely unnecessary.
Bocchi the Rock! movie - 8/10: Cramming a whole season into a two part movie is surprisingly good. Saw it in theaters and I had a good time. So... when season 2?
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Conflict - 8/10: So far, it's still great. It's very intense.
Dragon Ball Daima - 8/10: Great story, great characters, great world building, and great animation. The pacing though... cocktease.
Old
Dragon Ball - 10/10: Revisited as myself paying tribute to the late Akira Toriyama, who pass away this year. This series is still amazing and charming. Please watch it and ignore the fandom who hated it for no reason. Your life will change forever.
Dragon Ball Z - 9/10: This was the first time I watched it in the original Japanese version. A completely different experience. I had a ton of fun going through the whole thing again.
Lucky Star - 7/10: At first, I really love how these girls just sit around and talk endlessly. But then... it kept going. Then it got super annoying. And then it got to be not fun anymore. By the time I got to ep. 12, I remember saying to myself," WE GOT 12 MORE EPISODES OF THIS SHIT?" The ending was cringing, I'm sorry, I did not like it. I give it some time and... it wasn't that bad in retrospect, I was just not in the right mood. I'll give it another chance one day.
K-ON! - 10/10: I read the manga a year ago and I greatly enjoy it, so I was looking forward for the adaptation. Unfortunately, an unexpected moment occurred in my life that made me delayed my binge watch. Once I felt better, I finally watched it and... it was what I desperately want: comfort. The characters were great, the music is pretty catchy, and the overall experience was enjoyable. When it was over, I felt sad, sad that it was over. But it did heal my soul.
The Melancholy of Haruchi Suzumiya - 4/10: Surprised I didn't receive hate mail from my opinion of this anime. Why did I really hated it? Haruchi Suzumiya herself. Fuck! That! BITCH! I hated everything about her, she gave me flasbacks to Asuka from Evangalion, who is also GODAWFUL! This anime reminded me why I hated tsunderes, I never felt so much anger in my life. If there's any silver lining, it gave me Yuki Nagato, and Mikuru Asahina is cute. I know there's a movie, but I refuse to watch it.
The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan - 7/10: I got nothing to say about this spin-off, but I like this better then the main one.
Berserk (1997) - 8/10: Finally started watching this classic and, wow, this was not what I expect it to be. I was really into the story and the battle scenes were gory. The ending? Still haven’t recover from that dramatic experience.
Hidamari Sketch - 10/10: You know why I started watching this? I watch the second presidential debate, and it was a total shit show. To get away from politics, I put this on, not expecting what I was going to get. And what did I get? Possibly one of the cutest, comforting, fun shows I've seen in awhile. The girls were great, the animation was abstract, and it was pretty relaxing. I was a bit bother by the ecchi scenes, glad Madoka didn't had that treatment. By the end, you feel like you made friends with them. Or better yet, you became family with them. This is another show that heal my soul.
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid - 8/10: This one has been on my watch list for awhile, but I'm glad I saw it. Another relaxing show that just happens to have plenty of scenes that goes TOO HARD! Like whole, was not expecting them to throw at me. Everything else is great too.
Yuru Yuri - 8/10: I thought I wasn't going to like this because of how mean spirited it can be. But... not only was this shit funny, but it's also heartwarming. This was a lot a fun.
What to expect next year?
Time for my little review of Dragon Ball Daima episode 2 !
It was a good episode, I enjoyed it a lot!! Really, for now Daima is great and doesn't disappoint me !
Some little things about the series :
I don't remember if I said it before, but Daima is visually beautiful. The animation, designs, character designs, everything is great and cool to watch ! Which is by the way amazing after the visual mess that Dragon Ball Super was.
The opening and ending are great 🎶
Now about the episode in itself :
The lore keeps being amazing and interesting ! That little thing about how the Namekians/Namekujin left the Daima world was very interesting, for example !
I love the little teasings about the characters and their lives. For now many of them are mysterious, we all want to know more about them, and this episode does a good job teasing us a bit and making us even more interested ! The parts about Gomah, about Kaïoshin's past and his brother, about Neva's backstory... I am hyped not gonna lie ! I can't wait to learn more about Neva, to understand why they said Gomah was so dangerous while for now he just looks like a clown, to know what's Kaïoshin's relationship with his brother...
The humor was great. Seriously, it was so funny. That line when Shenron said he only gave three wishes to the regulars cracked me up lol. All the episode was funny and I really liked it!
Gokū with his Nyoibō!!!! One of my favourite parts!!! I was so happy to see Gokū with his Nyoibō again!!! I had missed it!! The Nyoibō was such an important object in the first Dragon Ball series/at the beginning of the manga, it was emblematic, and I had missed it in DBZ/DBS/the rest of the manga, so I was sooooo happy (and a bit nostalgic!) when I saw Gokū with it again!
Kid Vegeta is adorable. Nothing to add.
I love Gokū's personality and energy, in this ep and in the first two. He looks more like himself, and it's cool. DBS gave him such a shitty personality, and I was afraid we would see that version of him again, but for now it's not the case and it's a good thing!
Gokū as a kid is even more adorable. Still nothing to add.
I like how Bulma treats Kibito as her servant. Go on Queen.
The seiyus (voice actors) are amazing! Masako Nozawa is OF COURSE incredible but I'll talk about it later because she deserves her own point haha. I didn't mention it a lot after the first episode because the characters we love didn't talk that much, but the seiyus are great. Of course, it's still weird to hear that new voice for Bulma, but her original seiyu died (💔) some years ago so they didn't have another choice, her new seiyu honestly does a great job! Same for all the other seiyus, I love the new characters' voices, and the seiyus of the characters we already knew are still doing a perfect job! For now in Daima, I especially love Vegeta's and Piccolo's seiyus' work - and obviously the best is still queen Masako Nozawa !
Masako Nozawa. What can I even say about her ? What a queen, what a goddess, what a legend. Those of you who only watch the dub don't know what you miss because NOBODY can voice a character the way Masako Nozawa voices Gokū, and nobody can voice Gokū the way Masako Nozawa voices Gokū. There's no word to describe how talented she is, how incredible Gokū's voice is, how amazing the passion she puts in her work is! Can you believe that she's almost 90??? That's CRAZY. She's a LEGEND.
It was so, so, so great to hear her voice Kid Gokū again! I love her Kid Gokū voice! I was smiling like an idiot during the whole episode just because of that! And of course it made me nostalgic but in a happy way haha, I had flash-backs of Kid Gokū meeting Bulma for the first time and going on adventures with her and I loved it.
The only little thing I didn't like was Neva saying he couldn't bring back the Dragon Ball like he did a second time. Didn't seem very logical, it kind of sounded like script facility, it was a bit lazy. Of course they couldn't make him do that twice but it would have been better if they'd explained why before. But that's like... a very very little flaw so it doesn't really matter. Edit : someone in the comments told me that they thought Neva was just fucking with us because he didn't want Gomah to do what he wanted to do with that wish and it actually makes a lot of sense, I think it's what happened!
I WANNA SEE GOHAN. WHERE IS GOHAN? I just KNOW something will happen with him, but what? Can't wait to know!
Anyway, this episode was really great, I really like Daima so far, I am sooo hyped and I can't wait to see the next episode!
Hope everyone enjoyed it too :)
Dragon Ball Daima episode 10:
This episode was packed.
Since we saw Kuu face off against Tamagami #1 in this episode and #2 is in the next episode preview fighting Vegeta, it feels like we're suddenly moving at superspeed.
Aside from this "escalation", we see the "oldest" Planet Namek, which is neat.
Then we learn the Glinds are on course to die off because the trees they're born from are gone, which has some strong implications for a bunch of stuff we learned in Super.
And then to top that off, we now suddenly have another origin story for the universe via an old Demon King who orded "Rymus" to create the entire universe.
Before this fairly massive, but brief lore dump, we still have room for some neat action scenes with the Krakens and Kuu.
The scenes with the Krakens in particular had some really stand-out animation, but some of the scenes of Kuu vs. Tamagami #1 were pretty solid, as well.
As derivative as Kuu is (almost to the point of parody), I love how he has ended up similarly "cheap" in terms of personality.
He's a cowardly version of Buu, who eventually just retreats because he simply can't defeat Tamagami #1 and I love how Arinsu doesn't automatically do the "you've outlived your usefulness" spiel and is instead just stuck with a servant just wanting to be useful.
Leaning into the humor of the derision is so much fun because the Saibamen are dirty, but fairly "weak" fighters at the point of time where this story takes place, so it all just "makes sense".
They somehow managed to make Majin Kuu fun when I never expected them to, which is a little wild.
Finally, I once again want to point out all of the Vegeta bullying, which just never fails to make me smile. Some take it super seriously, but I think it's a blast. His hyper-serious attitude just lends itself so well to that kind of teasing.
So, once again, this was a really fun episode. Last few episodes (with the exception of ep. 8) had some pacing hiccups, but now we're back on track (in fact, it might've gone a little too much in the opposite direction, being "too fast").
DAIMA EP.20 (Spoiler)Review/theories(yes, still)
• So, I've been watching every episode 3 times each since this show started streaming, & I gotta say, aside from the fact I'll definitely be rewatching the whole show from time to time, I can't help but think about how this is probably the last dragon ball related project Akira Toriyama was in any way involved in. That unmistakable charm has clearly been very hard to replicate for Toei post Z. Plus, there's the odd coincidence of Daima ending a day before the anniversary of his passing. I think I'll cherish this show deeply.
• Good golly, there's so much to talk about! Man, the animators were going all out to top what we got in the Super Broly movie! (There was surprisingly less Naotoshi Shida than I expected)
• Goku was pulling out every combo he could think of. & flexing his booba. AND BLOWING A HOLE THROUGH A MAIN VILLAIN! This Super Saiyan 4 form was on that early Z movie Goku time. Ruthless. Also, no opening this time. But the song did play for the ED.
• I was wondering where King Gohma's scepter went...
• That brief underground fight between Goku & King Gohma looked like an even more colorful version of that trippy in-between dimensions place Gogeta & Broly fought in for a bit. Hope the put it in a game.
• Give it up to Masako Nozawa, she was probably either 86 or 87 while recording these episodes & still screaming like a BEAST.
• Cool that we saw a 2D version of the ring everyone was fighting in as Goku powered up before winding up his Kamehameha. So cool that it shot straight through the Demon Realm layers. The water pouring in was a nice touch. The afterglow on Goku's fingers was sick.
• While it's kind of a shame Piccolo did less than Glorio in this show, CLUTCH KING KUU, BABY!!! I was accidentally right to call him that before. Yay me.
• The way the Third Eye was destroyed was so ridiculous. (Affectionate) Classic Toriyama.
• Kitty mouth Piccolo!?
• I somehow feel worse for Degesu, if only for the fact that he has to live with a lout like Gohma. Being non-infanticidal & easy to laugh at aside, Gohma's scummy, petty & bratty.
• Almost had me with that Goku raising his hand bit. Hail King Kuu!! Wise beyond his years. (Bro's like, 2 days old)
• The return of the "Super Saiyan bargain sale" joke! Aaaand, no explanation as to why Goku doesn't use SSJ4 post Daima. Plus no name-drops for currently unnamed characters, but I'm sure the Kakarot dlc will fill in plenty of gaps. (That game loves it's flavor text & whatnot)
• Ultra Vegeta?! (Do they know...?)
• I loved the moment between Neva, Dende & Piccolo. Sounds like Neva won't be lonely anymore.
• Lmao, Panzy making Vegeta wave.
• I knew they were gonna do that "checking in on characters via special illustrations in the credits" thing. Chi-Chi's outfit is so cute! +How'd I not notice that before?) Plus Trunks & Goten got new rad outfits I'd love to see on their adult forms. Also, I guess the Tamagamis gotta go find their D balls themselves.
• Well, we never got to see the bug-fusion, but we got to see that pleasant medi-bug shopkeeper lady again. That Bulma but clashes with the bits from the Super Hero & Super Broly movies, but whatever. Also, holy extra frames, Batman! So smooth.
• Classic Toriyama joke. An all powerful, legendary item that had a massive impact on the very history of an entire realm, can be bought in a shop in the middle of NOWHERE. I love it.
• In conclusion, I love Daima with all my heart. I might delete these reviews a few months from now. No point in them taking up space on this blog, dead in the water.
• Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to reading the OG Dragon ball manga.
"Tackle life with as much energy as Goku! I'll try to do the same."
